Folu's Travel Diaries : Ndani Tv's The New Africa, Episode 3: Cape Town, South Africa.
So while in South Africa, I figured I might as well hit up cape town in between my Johannesburg meetings and explorations and I so very happy I did that. The first thing that struck me was how beautiful Cape Town (and in truth the surrounding towns and villages) were. From almost every angle you find stunning views! It's pretty easy to get from Johannesburg to Capetown, many airlines fly several times a day and the trip costs somewhere around 120 USD if you're buying during the peak period (south african summer November-february or so) so book early!
One of the nicest things is how serene and beautiful Cape Town is, and the crew and I were able to secure a villa in camps bay, by far one of the best ways to enjoy this town is to rent a villa during your time here so you end up being quite flexible. On my trips i've worked with Jekan Travels, an agency that has been super helpful and are very quick to deal with any surprises!
Going on walks is a fantastic way to experience parts of Cape Town (as always make sure you observe safety protocol especially if you are new in a place, go out with a buddy or let someone know where you're heading and ask locals to confirm safe areas) and the views from Lions head which is very close to signal Hill is so pretty.
Now if you watched started watching The New Africa from episode 1, you would know by now that i am afraid of heights, so it was a near miracle to get some of these shots.
I do however love water, so was more than thrilled to try out surfing in Cape Town. So I know i'm standing around looking like a pro, but it was a while of wiping out before i managed to surf but I did with pride and full joy. Thanks to the excellent teaching of my professional surfer and surf instructor, Papi.
In my opinion a part of what makes Cape Town a good place to visit is the variety of activities you can get involved in, so there's something for everyone to do. So next i did something else, and went to have lunch and taste wine at a vineyard.
So Fairview is actually a full farmhouse, and a delightful place to relax, take in the view and the food and be grateful for being alive.
Cape Town is easily a destination I am always happy to revisit because its natural beauty has me completely seduced, but click on the video below and decide for yourself! Don't forget to leave comments and questions if you have any!x
