Monday Musings and Music: Jojo Abot, Victoria Kimani & MaleekBerry

Monday Musings and Music: Jojo Abot, Victoria Kimani & MaleekBerry

African's are incredible, and African Women (and all descendants of on the continent or in the diaspora) are just pure Magic; often in the most unexpected and intriguing forms.  This is the line of thought my brain wanders in every time i come across Afro-beat & Jazz singer/song-writer: Jojo Abot. This striking Ghanian beauty with her piercing eyes and wandering feet that have taken her through brooklyn, copanhagen, accra and back delivers a haunting mix of electro-jazz, syntha hint of reggae and afrobeat. And the Video is deliciously simple.

The only way you may not have heard of Chocolate city's Kenyan Diva is if you do not live on the African continent. Victoria Kimani in 2015 dominated the air waves of Nigeria's commercial nerve-centre: Lagos with the sort of commercial pop music that had the boys slightly shaken. Her newest track " All The Way" is a much welcomed change in pace, seeing Kimani going back to her roots, first with the opening nod to Angelique Kidjo's classic "Wombolombo" and fusing it with an undeniable R n B sound and then teaming up with South-Africa's Khuli Chana for a true hip-hop edge. Thank you Victoria Kimani for reminding us that you are about that good music too.

And last but most certainly not the least, the London girl in me was only too happy to peep the video for this massive tune by Ace producer Maleekberry featuring Sneakbo; a JM Films production ( Demeji & Jimi I see you doing brilliant things)! Africans remain eternally joyful no matter where they call home, and this celebratory tune is just another reason to be grateful for friends, family and whoever else your people may be.

So on that note, have a fantastic week my people and don't let that joy slip!
