Awards and Nominations in 2018: Look Mama I Made It!
I’ve received a fair amount of recognition professionally this year and it has been a humbling and exciting thing for me. Thank you to the many listeners and watchers and readers out there who have always supported me, and to those who have come on board in the past year, thank you. I do not take your time or support for granted.
And to people who have nominated me for recognition in several places, thank you feels not enough somehow, but it also contains a wealth of gratitude. Thank you truly.

This year I was awarded with the Eloy On Air Personality Of The Year Award, 2018. I have also been Nominated for the Future Awards Africa prize for On Air Personality Of The Year (Radio) which is a huge honour as I am among 100 of the best and brightest Young Africans in their field. Also earlier in the year I was nominated by a youth award platform called the Scream Awards again for On Air Personality Of the Year (TV).
An interviewer recently asked me what I did differently this year, at the time I told her honestly that I cannot think of anything particularly different, but then I’ve come across a couple of quotes since that perhaps might hold a better response to that:
“Talent is often suffocated by the desire to be deemed talented.”
― Mokokoma Mokhonoana
and
“Unless I speak, you won't see me.”
― Marty Rubin
This year I was focused on doing all my work excellently well. This year I tried to improve on little things and little moments and be present. This year I was not suffocated by a desire to be recognised as talented, and so this year I also spoke up more. Perhaps that is why this year more people have seen me.
